A commercially-minded executive with a strong track record, Mike Tunnicliffe is the Global Chief Growth & Marketing Officer of GroupM, WPP’s Media Investment Management holding company. Mike oversees major business development and revenue growth across the whole of GroupM. This includes direct oversight of new business and organic growth activities in GroupM agencies and the 30+ U.S.-based specialist businesses and units in the digital, content, analytics and trading spaces that are available to all GroupM clients in North America. He has additional responsibility for all new business, marketing and corporate communications activities globally.
Prior to joining GroupM in October 2010, he's held a variety of top media industry positions including: a Media Agency CEO in Europe, a global account leader for major consumer brands and Fortune 500 companies, Chief Strategic Officer for a top 5 US based media agency and an entrepreneur at the intersection between entertainment, technology and brands, all of which has given him experience of operating with businesses that need to be guided through today’s digitally driven, consumer controlled world. He was nominated by M&M Europe and leading international advertising magazine Campaign as “one of the top 100 most influential people in global advertising and marketing.”
His opinion is sought by leading ‘influencers’ in the entertainment and advertising industries to help shape the debate on digitally driven innovation and marketing for brands, entertainment properties and technology/digital companies/ platforms. His columns have been published in leading titles such as Advertising Age, AdWeek, Campaign, A&R Worldwide & the FMI Technology & Entertainment Report and he has been a keynote speaker, panellist or moderator at numerous media & entertainment industry conferences across the globe including MIDEM, MusExpo, The Advertising Clio’s, Billboard Music & Brands Conference, SXSW and Canadian Music Week.
Mike is passionate about giving back and is involved in a number of cause related initiatives. He has served on the board of the leading environmental not-for-profit group Rock The Earth, was Vice Chairman of the UK-based National Advertising Benevolent Society, and is heavily involved in a group of charities that raises money for the care of terminally ill children and teenagers.
