Mike Tunnicliffe currently has responsibility for major business development and revenue growth across GroupM, with oversight of new business and revenue growth activities in our agencies and the 30+ US based specialist businesses and units in the digital, content, analytics and trading spaces that are available to all GroupM clients.
During Mike's 30 year career, which is grounded in media, he has held a number of positions including Media Agency CEO, global account leader for major consumer brands and Fortune 500 companies and Chief Strategic Officer for a top five global media company. Mike also has significant hands on experience of many different client sectors, having worked with clients in financial services, packaged goods, autos, entertainment and more. He has developed and managed relationships with major multinational companies across the globe and has extensive experience working with clients in every major global market and region.
Prior to joining GroupM in September 2010, Mike spent the previous few years developing new businesses at the intersection between brands, technology and entertainment. His opinion is also sought to help shape the debate on innovation, brands & entertainment and in particular partnerships and associations between brands, entertainment properties and new platforms. His has been prolific columnist in publications including Advertising Age, Campaign , A&R Worldwide and has either chaired , been keynote speaker or panelist at leading advertising and music industry conferences across the globe ,including MIDEM, MUSEXPO, and the Advertising Clios .
Mike is passionate about giving back and is involved in a number of cause related initiatives including having been on the board of leading environmental not for profit group; Rock The Earth, Vice Chairman of the UK based National Advertising Benevolent Society and heavily involved in a group of charities that raises money for the care of terminally ill children and teenagers.
Mike lives in Manhattan with his wife, two teenage children, three dogs and collection of rock music Memorabilia and instruments. When he’s not playing or listening to music he escapes on to the waters of New York harbor and the surrounding coastline in his boat ‘Timeless.’
