Colin Barlow is the global Chief Financial Officer for GroupM, a position he assumed in July 2007.
In this role, Colin oversees all financial and information technology management activities for GroupM operating agencies, which include Maxus, MEC, MediaCom, Mindshare, and Kinetic and extend across more than 17,000 employees and operations in 50 countries. He is responsible for the financial health of the organization, defining targets for operating units and managing resource deployment and company investments.
Previously, Colin served as CFO of GroupM EMEA, where he managed fiscal operations for the region. During his tenure, he oversaw a complete restructuring of the financial organization with the creation of GroupM back office operations across 12 markets.
Before moving to GroupM, Colin worked in a financial capacity for Mindshare, first as Finance Director UK, then CFO EMEA. While at Mindshare, he successfully increased accountability of central operations and reduced operating risk by introducing operating and trading risk management programs.
Prior to joining the GroupM network, he spent several years rising through the ranks at a handful of leading internet and advertising agencies. His posts included European Audit Manager, then Eastern Europe Deputy Finance Director at Ogilvy & Mather; Central and Eastern Europe Finance Director, then Deputy Finance Director, EMEA, for BBDO; and, finally, Finance Director, then Managing Director of Razorfish UK.
A U.K. chartered accountant, Colin began his career at Arthur Andersen. He graduated from Leeds University with a degree in electronic engineering.
