Juergen Blomenkamp is the GroupM Investment Chairman. He started his career in 1987 as Trainee of Grey Media/MediaCom. In 1989 he was appointed as First Specialist (Group Head) for TV Spot placement Optimization in Germany and was nominated in 1992 as Managing Director Telebingo/MediaCom. During this time, MediaCom became the No. 1 TV operation in volume and direction. From 1996 to 2001, he was the Managing Director for MediaCom and was also responsible for all New Business activities in Germany and all TV, including key accounts for top clients like Procter & Gamble, Mars, Deutsche Bank, Coca Cola, VW Group and Deutsche Telekom. Under his leadership, MediaCom won 1,400 Million Euros of new business volume in 5 years.
From 2002-2003 Juergen was Chief Operating Officer of MediaCom Germany and also Member of MediaCom's global Management Board “Womax“. From 2003-2006, Juergen was the Chief Executive Officer of MediaCom Germany and it became the No. 1 Media Agency in Germany and grew from 1.8 billion (2003) to 3.1 billion (2006) gross media billings (staff end of 2006: 515; Recma evaluation: 2004: AA+, 2005: AA+, 2006: AA+).
In 2007, Juergen was appointed CEO GroupM Germany with umbrella function for the 4 agency groups - Maxus, MEC, MediaCom, Mindshare and Kinetic - and was responsible for 1150 employees and 6.8 billion Euros gross media billings. Between 2007-2009 he created a central media trading organization, synergy solutions among the group, and developed and integrated new business lines, especially in the area of Interaction/Online and Digital. At this time GroupM Germany acquired and integrated Quisma a search engine marketing company with 70 employees. Juergen was appointed Global CEO, GroupM Trading in March 2010.
