Stuart Garvie is CEO of GroupM Canada, where he oversees GroupM’s executive committee in Canada and roughly 800 employees across GroupM, Mindshare, MediaCom, Wavemaker, Essence, Xaxis and Catalyst. Prior to rejoining GroupM in 2017, Garvie was President, Media Sales and Marketing at Bell Media, where he oversaw Bell Media’s integrated multi-platform sales force and Bell Media’s award-winning, in-house creative agency. An industry visionary, Garvie has over 20 years of international experience in the media industry. Prior to Bell Media, Garvie served as GroupM Canada’s Chief Commercial Officer between 2013 and 2015. During this time, he established GroupM’s successful trading operations. Before moving to Canada, Garvie was based in London where he held global leadership positions at GroupM agency Maxus. Garvie was also previously Danone’s Media Purchasing Manager for the U.K. and Ireland. Earlier in his career he also spent time at Reckitt Benckiser’s Media Manager of Northern Europe. Garvie has a breadth of agency experience having held positions with Manning Gottlieb OMD, IDK, and Optimedia. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for thinktv (formerly the Television Bureau of Canada), a marketing and research association dedicated to the advancement of commercial television. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science from the University of Nottingham.

After graduating from the European Business School in 1993, Axel joins Optimedia France (Publicis Group) as account executive on the Colgate Palmolive business for France. In 1995, the French media agency builds an international competency to run the Renault and the newly win, Polo Ralph Lauren European accounts. Axel joins the structure as International Account Executive and later International Account Manager.
In 1998 he joins Mediapolis (ex. MPG, Havas Group) to handle the BPI Worldwide coordination (Beauté Préstige International). BPI distributes and promotes the Jean-Paul Gaultier, Issey Miyaké and Narcisso Rodriguez fragrances.
In 2000, Axel is appointed as Account Director by MediaCom to build their International unit. Key clients are Procter & Gamble and later 3M and Lexmark. In 2002, Axel takes on top of his international role the account leadership of Volkswagen Group brands Audi and SEAT for France.
After 5 years working at MediaCom, in 2005 Axel joins Initiative as Group Account Director. Key client there were Johnson&Johnson and SC Johnson.
In October 2006, Axel is hired by MEC Paris Global Solutions to handle Monster European leadership as well leading the Danone Worldwide for GroupM. Two years later, Axel is transferred to MEC New-York office to run both Monster.com and Campbell’s worldwide media operation. During the 3 years spent in the US, Axel will also lead the US Chanel business which will allow him in 2011 to travel back to Paris to run Chanel globally. In January 2013, Axel is promoted to Managing Director of MEC France, role he will combine with international business leadership of Michelin, Blizzard and Danone.
In September 2015 Axel is appointed in the newly created role of President of Groupm for Quebec in Montreal. Mission there is to support GroupM growth for Canada and North America.
In 2000, Karen launched Mindshare into the Canadian market. Over the past 15 years she has successfully lead the strong and vibrant company while doubling billings in the last 5 years. Mindshare is one of Canada’s largest and most well respected media agencies.
In her position as CEO, Karen is responsible for all of the Canadian divisions and is a member of the North American Mindshare Management Team as well as the GroupM Exco.
An active participant in industry initiatives, Karen has held executive committee positions on BBM, COMB, Nadbank, NABS, PMB, as President of the CMDC and most recently selected to be Canada’s Media Judge for the Cannes Lions in June 2013 and the Global Festival of Media in 2014.
Mr. Johnson is a senior executive who joined MediaCom as the Chief Client Officer in 2014. In 2015, he was appointed as CEO of MediaCom Canada. Mr. Johnson has experience across all media channels, consumer insights development, syndicated research, and strategic planning. He also has very strong account service management abilities.
Prior to his tenure with MediaCom, Mr. Johnson was SVP-Managing Director at Havas Media Canada. During his time with Havas, his accomplishments included 95% client retention and the largest growth in annual revenue in 2013 since Canadian inception.
Since joining MediaCom, Mr. Johnson’s strong leadership has made a tremendous impact on client satisfaction and retention, and on reinforcing the company’s culture.
Mr. Johnson has two decades of experience across a number of marketing categories, leading teams servicing a diverse group of clients including (but not limited to): Danone, Merck, Volvo, Intact Insurance, Subway Restaurants, Midas, Sleeman Breweries, Adidas, P&G, Midas, Jenny Craig, Reebok, CIBC, Mars Wrigley, YUM!, Starbucks, VW, Shell, Dell.
Ann is President of Wavmaker Canada, Canada’s fastest growing media agency, which she launched in 2012 for GroupM.
Ann is known as an innovative and engaged leader with 25 years of diverse media experience ranging from operations, strategic planning, buying and even selling of media. She has been in the GroupM family for over 10 years previously running Excelerator Media, as GM Managing Director. Before GroupM Ann was a partner in the Brainstorm Group, a full service communication agency, and previously spent 4 years selling OOH advertising.
Ann is a graduate of Humber College in Marketing, a graduate of the 4 year CAPP program and she serves on the board of CMDC. She is an active member of IAB, RCC and a former board member of NADbank.

Kerry is the founding Managing Director of m/SIX in Canada. She has more than 25 years of executive level media experience in Canada, the U.S. and Europe and she is a former Publisher of some of Canada’s most popular consumer and B2B media brands. She has operated her own consultancy driving new business strategy for clients, including GroupM agency Maxus. Service at Maxus included leading communications strategy development for BMO, Revlon and Kruger products, as well as cross-agency team coaching and management of client business leads. Prior to that she was VP of Rogers Media for nearly 10 years.Kerry has developed innovative audience and advertiser relationships across media channels and client categories as the leader of brands including Chatelaine, Canadian Living, Flare, Today’s Parent, Style at Home, Profit, Ottawa Business Journal, Silicon Valley North, Equinox and more.

Rodney Perry is Managing Director, Canada of Xaxis. As Managing Director, Rodney is responsible for building a team of seasoned digital marketing professionals to provide best-of-breed audience planning solutions to a roster of top clients from GroupM agencies.
With over 13 years experience in the digital and interactive space, Rodney has seen both sides of the business; client side while running HBC.com and Rogers.com and agency side at OMD Digital and MEC Interaction.
Immediately prior to joining Xaxis, Rodney was Vice President of Canadian operations for CCAB a division of BPA Worldwide. In this role, he managed the Canadian operations of CCAB and drove the global digital strategy for BPA Worldwide. Before working at CCAB, Rodney was the Managing Partner of the Toronto office of MEC Interaction. During his tenure, the MECi team saw a billings increase of 200% with head count doubling. Clients included Ford, Molson, and Ontario Tourism.
Rodney holds a Marketing Management diploma from Lambton College. He has discussed digital marketing on a variety of TV and radio shows as well as at various interactive events. In-depth knowledge of the digital and emerging marketplaces coupled with a traditional business background helps Rodney drive innovative programs that hit the bottom line for clients.
