NEW YORK—Stuart Garvie, an experienced media agency executive who has also worked on the client side of the industry, has been appointed to the new position of Chief Commercial Officer at GroupM Canada.
The announcement was made by GroupM North America CEO Kelly Clark, who said Garvie will begin his new role on May 1.
GroupM, the leading media investment operation in the world, is the parent company to WPP media agencies Maxus, MEC, MediaCom, and Mindshare. In his new role, Garvie will work with the CEOs of each agency to create shared specialist services designed to benefit clients in areas like sports sponsorship, entertainment marketing, data and analytics, and mobile. He will also lead GroupM's consolidated trading approach with the agencies’ dedicated trading leads.
“I’m delighted that Stuart has accepted this important new position within GroupM,” Clark said in making the announcement. “He will be a great partner for our agencies and will help them further strengthen our market-leading position in the Canadian market.”
Garvie joins GroupM Canada from Maxus, where he has served a Deputy Global Trading Director since July of 2011. In that role he was responsible for delivering best trading practices and results for Maxus clients globally.
Prior to joining Maxus, Garvie was Media Purchasing Manager in the UK and Ireland for Danone, where he was responsible for media delivery across all company divisions.
Earlier in his career he served as Media Manager of Northern Europe for Reckitt Benckiser, in which he managed the company’s media agency relationships across three countries, four business units and 18 brands. His agency experience includes working as Head of TV Buying for Manning Gottlieb OMD as well as several previous London-based buying positions with agencies including IDK and Optimedia.
Currently based in London, Garvie will relocate to Toronto. A photo of Stuart Garvie is available on request.
