GROUPM ENTERTAINMENT JOINS FORCES WITH ALLOY DIGITAL IN NEW CONTENT DEVELOPMENT DEAL
Entertainment Properties Will Target 12-34 Demographic
NEW YORK—GroupM Entertainment today announced a new strategic partnership with Alloy Digital designed to develop, produce, and market two original episodic web series.
The agreement was jointly announced by GroupM Entertainment Global CEO Peter Tortorici and Alloy Digital CEO Matt Diamond.
“GroupM Entertainment’s mission is to help bring engaging content into the media marketplace through innovative co-production partnerships,” Tortorici said in making the announcement. “We look forward to partnering with Alloy Digital on these two exciting projects.”
Under the terms of the deal, GroupM Entertainment will invest in both Chasing: Season 2 and Encore, each a premium digital property conceived by Alloy Digital and targeted to consumers aged 12-34. GroupM Entertainment and Alloy will share executive producer credit and ownership of each series, including syndication rights on both properties. In addition to financing, GME will lend creative and strategic support to Alloy and the producers with the goal of seeing these properties entertain audiences worldwide.
“Our partnership with GroupM Entertainment builds on the positive momentum we created at this year’s NewFronts, our industry’s initiative designed to connect brands and advertisers across a burgeoning array of top-quality digital content,” said Diamond. “Alloy Digital continues to build on a platform-agnostic content and distribution model that responds nimbly to the market shifts and demands of our audiences and clients, and we’re thrilled that the GroupM team is supporting the growth of compelling digital programming through this partnership.”
The two productions under the partnership follow a long line of Alloy Digital scripted and non-scripted original programming targeted toward the 12-34 new viewing audience. Chasing, which is returning for its second season, is a music-based reality competition series, sending super fans on the ultimate road rally for the chance to meet their favorite artists. Along the way they’ll follow clues, solve puzzles, and compete in challenges all inspired by the artist’s life and music. Encore takes the dramatic potential of a high school reunion and adds performance, showmanship and a healthy dose of competition.
ABOUT GROUPM ENTERTAINMENT
GroupM Entertainment, an operating unit of GroupM Worldwide, is engaged in the business of creating, financing and distributing intellectual property to create advantages for its clients and generate business opportunities for its agencies. GroupM Entertainment provides financial, business and legal support to the Agency Entertainment teams at Maxus, MEC, MediaCom and Mindshare. In addition, best practice creative support is provided to insure that the Agency Entertainment offerings provide best in class Entertainment Marketing solutions to clients. To help support these client service efforts, GroupM Entertainment makes capital investments in properties to be produced and distributed in both television and on-line media. GroupM Entertainment funds are invested to fund either the production or acquisition of a property to be carried by a media network. The goal is to see these properties achieve a return by being sold outside the market of their origination, and we work with local GroupM auspices to achieve this objective where possible.
